HFX International - A look at Undergrounds Finest
By Alian - Underground Information Warfare E-Zine
Before HFX International became what it is today, it was three hackers in a New Jersey town who wanted to make the digital underground a better place.
These three hackers got together one night in July of 1992 and decided to think of a way to improve the underground community. After drinking countless bottles of Jolt cola discussing numerous ideas in front of the
television set in a basement room, they came up with the idea to bring the underground together as one single unified society. If this could be achieved, it would strengthen the society as a whole and allow for more things to be accomplished. It was then that HFX was formed.
HFX says that it does support newbies into the community, but they are very particular as of too who they help. They too have agreed with us, in that the wannabe invasion is rampant, as they too have witnessed the affects of people mimicking what they see in the media and what they think is cool. They say that they are constantly asked how to do something and when the task is even remotely difficult they are asked "Is there a program for that?"
Since that time, they have set out to expand their role within the underground community and continue to do so every day.
In 1999, they also thought that it would be a good idea to host a public convention starting in 2001. By hosting a convention they are keeping with the goal of educating the masses and bringing people together to share ideas
and knowledge. It is hoped that HFXcon will one day become a place to bring together individuals and companies whose goals are for technological advancement to share ideas so that we may make society a better place.
Right now the biggest project is the up coming HFXcon in the US, they also have hinted that they are working on a new version of Linux in the near future, as well as new applications and tools, tutorials, texts for both new
and experienced users, expanding the organization and striving to achieve there goals.
HFX can be contacted in many ways yet they prefer to be contacted via email as this is easier for them, they have a contact page on there website at http://www.hfactorx.org and they have a chat room called #HFX on Undernet, they say that people are free to contact them in or out of the chat room and talk with there members.
Since that faithful night in July 1992, HFX has grown in support and will continue to do what it was originally intended to do. As we always say, "Before the beginning of great brilliance, there must be chaos."
